Regarding the common instruments and equipment in the cell laboratory, I have used two articles to introduce them. For details, please click "Common instruments and equipment in the cell laboratory (1)" and "Common instruments and equipment in the cell laboratory (2)" to view. In this issue of the article, we will introduce common culture vessels in cell laboratories.
There are mainly three types of common culture utensils in the cell laboratory, namely: culture utensils, utensils related to culture operations, and other supplies.
I, culture vessel
According to the material, it is divided into glass culture vessel and plastic culture vessel. Among them, the former has the advantages of easy cell growth, easy cleaning, and repeated use. The latter has the advantage of being cheap and for one-time use. At present, there are 3 kinds of common culture vessels, namely: culture flask, culture dish, and multi-well culture plate.
1. Culture bottle: made of glass or plastic, used for culturing and multiplying cells. Domestically produced specifications are identified by capacity (ml), and imported ones are represented by base area (c㎡).
2. Petri dish: It is made of glass or plastic and has two major uses. One is for loading, separating and processing tissues, and the other is for cytotoxicity, single cell separation, and isotope incorporation experiments. Common specifications are 10cm, 9cm, 6cm, 3.5cm, etc.
3. Multi-well culture plate: made of plastic material, used for various detection experiments, such as cell cloning and cytotoxicity experiments. Common specifications are 6 holes, 24 holes, 12 holes, 6 holes, 4 holes, etc.
II. Utensils related to culture operation
There are mainly three kinds of utensils related to culture operation in the cell laboratory, namely: liquid storage bottle, pipette, and sample pipette.
1. Liquid storage bottle: used to store or prepare culture fluids, such as culture fluid, serum and reagents. Common specifications are 1000ml, 500ml, 250ml, 100ml, 50ml, 5ml, etc.
2. Straws: Divided into graduated straws and non-graded straws. The former is used to suck and transfer liquid, and the common specifications are 10ml, 5ml, 2ml, 1ml. The latter is used for sucking, transferring liquid, pipetting, mixing and subculturing cells.
3. Sample pipette: also known as "pipette", used to aspirate, move liquid or drop samples. The best is the micro-sampler, which is accurate and convenient in aspiration, which can ensure the accurate content of experimental samples (or reagents) and good repeatability.
III. Other supplies
Other supplies in the cell laboratory include: centrifuge tubes (to collect cells), test tubes (to place reagents), glass containers (to store straws), storage tanks (to store small culture items), cryotubes (to store cells), and various Kinds of syringes, beakers, measuring cylinders, funnels, alcohol lamps.
