The instrument analysis room is a common department in the laboratory, and the division of such departments must be done in the laboratory decoration design. Below, I will introduce the knowledge about the division of the instrument analysis room in the laboratory decoration design.
In the laboratory decoration design, the instrument analysis room can be divided into 4 categories, namely: gas chromatography analysis room, liquid chromatography analysis room, mass spectrometry analysis room, and spectral analysis room.
1. Gas Chromatography Analysis Room
The role of the gas chromatograph analysis chamber is to analyze liquid organic compounds (liquid substances that are easily converted into gas without decomposition) and gas samples. The carrier gas used mainly includes H2, N2, Ar, He, CO2, etc. However, it is powerless to separate high boiling point compounds, difficult to volatile and thermally unstable compounds, ionic compounds, and polymers.
Since the instruments in the gas chromatograph analysis room cannot be exposed to direct sunlight, so as not to affect the normal operation of the circuit system, local exhaust and shading should be done in the laboratory decoration design. There should be a certain gap between the instrument table and the wall to facilitate the overhaul of the instrument. The computer table should be placed next to the instrument table.
2. Liquid chromatography analysis room
The role of the liquid chromatography analysis room is to separate complex organic compounds and prepare pure compounds for quantitative and qualitative analysis. If the gas chromatographic analysis chamber is suitable for liquid organic compounds that are easily converted into gas without decomposition, then the liquid chromatographic analysis chamber is suitable for high boiling point compounds, hardly volatile compounds, thermally unstable compounds, ionic compounds, polymers, etc. It can be said that the two departments complement each other.
3. Mass analysis room
The role of the mass spectrometry analysis room is to qualitatively analyze pure organic matter to complete the determination of the molecular weight, molecular formula, and molecular structure of organic compounds. The commonly used instrument is a gas-mass spectrometer, which is an instrument that combines a mass spectrometer and a gas chromatograph.
Why combine the two instruments? Because the advantages of mass spectrometers are high sensitivity and strong qualitative analysis capabilities, the disadvantage is that they are powerless to separate complex organic compounds. The gas chromatograph is characterized by high separation efficiency, so the combination of the two can improve the quality and efficiency of analysis.
4. Spectral analysis room
The role of the spectral analysis room is to establish chemical analysis in the field of analytical chemistry, specifically through the physical characteristics of light absorption and scattering by substances and the physical characteristics of emitted light. The spectrum analysis room must be far away from the chemical laboratory to avoid damage to the instrument by acids, alkalis, and corrosive gases.
