When designing a biosafety laboratory, there are related matters that must be paid attention to. What are the matters to be aware of? Specifically, the biosafety laboratory design has 6 items to be noted, namely: practicality, layout, ventilation system, automatic control system, equipment backup issues, and other issues.
Item 1: Practicality
The practicality mentioned here is embodied in the balance of biosafety laboratory level, decoration design cost and operating cost.
Biosafety laboratory level: divided into level I, level II, level III, and level IV. Among them, level I has the lowest requirements for biosafety isolation, level II is second, level III and level IV are the highest. Since the requirement of biosafety isolation directly affects the cost of decoration design, it is necessary to determine the biosafety level before proceeding with decoration design.
The balance between decoration design cost and operating cost: Many customers spend a lot of budget on decoration design, ignoring the cost of the laboratory in the later operation, which leads to the embarrassing situation of being affordable. Therefore, life cycle costing (life cycle costing) analysis methods should be used in the design of biosafety laboratories in order to obtain a reasonable solution.
Matter 2: Floor plan
In terms of the layout of the biosafety laboratory design, two things need to be done: regional division and separation of people and logistics.
Regional division: Consists of the main laboratory (1), the first and second buffer rooms (1 each), and the washing room (1).
Separation of people and logistics: In terms of the flow of people, employees must enter the main laboratory through the first and second buffer rooms. In terms of logistics, one transfer window should be set up between the main laboratory, the laboratory and the preparation room.
Item 3: Ventilation system
In the ventilation system designed by the biosafety laboratory, four things need to be done: the selection of the number of air changes, the form of exhaust and supply, the room pressure difference, and the control system. If you want to know more details, you can click on "Summary of Key Points of Laboratory Ventilation Design" to view.
Item 4: Automatic control system
The main function of the automatic control system is regulation and control. If the biosafety laboratory does not have a complete automatic control system, it will be difficult to deal with emergencies and it is impossible to ensure that the pressure gradient is within a reasonable range.
Item 5: Equipment backup problem
First of all, we must set up a backup power supply to deal with the problem of sudden power failure. Secondly, we must pay attention to the spare issue of exhaust fans to ensure that the positive and negative pressures are within a reasonable range.
Item 6: Other issues
In addition to the above-mentioned items to be noted in the design of biosafety laboratories, there are also some issues that need attention. For example, it is strictly forbidden to use safety cabinet exhaust to replace room exhaust, and it is strictly prohibited to use purification workbench to replace biological safety cabinet.
