With the emergence of the science and technology industrial park, not only the number of newly-built laboratories gradually increased, but the old laboratories are also in urgent need of transformation. But after this boom, the general problems of laboratory design are worthy of our careful discussion.

Four problems to be eliminated in laboratory design

Specifically, we must eliminate four problems when designing the laboratory, namely: incomplete planning, low requirements for civil engineering design and technology, lack of standardized design, and negligence of adaptive research.

Problem 1: Incomplete planning

The so-called incomplete planning is simply improper site selection, which causes the laboratory to interfere with the surrounding environment in the later use. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare in advance and develop a comprehensive laboratory design plan and construction plan.

Problem 2: Low civil design and process requirements

Problem 3: Lack of standardized design

After all, different industries have different requirements for laboratory civil engineering, design and equipment. Moreover, the laboratory has complex functions. In addition to experimental functions, there are also research, office, and small-scale production R&D functions. It is indeed difficult to carry out a standardized design.

Generally speaking, laboratory design standards are significantly higher than general office buildings, and construction requirements are also stricter. Problem 4: Not paying attention to adaptive research

According to the survey, only 32% of the laboratories remained intact after the design and renovation, and the others were remodeled in later use, and the proportion of remodeling more than 5 times was as high as 20%. This aspect is caused by changes in the needs of enterprises, but more is caused by not paying attention to adaptive research.

It can be seen that the early adaptive research is very important. It is necessary to consider in advance what changes will occur in the laboratory and reserve relevant space in advance. At the same time, we must pay attention to the design in terms of safety, energy saving, and environmental protection to achieve sustainable development at the technical level.
