Common materials for test benches
The test bench occupies an important share in the entire laboratory equipment, and its performance is not only related to the safety of the staff, but also related to the service life of the test bench. When it comes to the common materials of experimental benches, there are mainly five kinds, namely: epoxy resin board, phenolic resin board, stainless steel, industrial ceramics, and natural stone. At present, the most used test bench on the market is epoxy resin board. Because this material is safe and reliable, this is especially important for the test bench that puts safety in the first place.
Before the advent of epoxy resin board, most of the bench tops were natural materials such as granite and marble. However, the former is too hard, porous and easy to penetrate, and the latter is too soft and brittle. In short, they cannot withstand repeated contact with various reagents, so they are replaced by cement boards containing cotton. But the cotton-containing cement board will release carcinogenic gas when heated, so it is not the most ideal material.
In order to meet market demand, the United States developed an epoxy resin board made by mixing epoxy resin, quartz sand, catalyst, curing agent and pigment in the 1960s, also known as "epoxy resin board". This material not only can effectively resist the commonly used chemical reagents in the laboratory, but also has the characteristics of moisture-proof, pollution-resistant and repairable. Features of solid core physical and chemical board countertops
Right now, the experimental table tops have been innovated again, and solid-core physical and chemical board countertops have appeared, which have become the most popular countertops in laboratory decoration. It has 6 major characteristics, namely: abrasion resistance, impact resistance, high temperature resistance and easy cleaning, a variety of colors, and a variety of thicknesses.
Wear resistance: The biggest feature of this countertop is wear resistance, scratch resistance, suitable for placing heavy or sharp objects.
Impact resistance: It is made of special high-pressure kraft paper and phenolic resin cured at high temperature, so it has strong impact resistance.
High temperature resistance: The material is flame retardant, and the effect of high temperature resistance is remarkable.
Easy to clean: The surface is tight, non-permeable, not easy to stain, and easy to clean.
